This weekend was really sunny and warm… so rather than staying home all day playing video games, my mom and dad brought us to Coney Island!
We live in Manhattan, which makes Coney Island just a short, twenty minute car-ride away. There is plenty of parking in the area, which is a huge plus for my parents! It’s also easily assessable by train. Coney Island is actually a family tradition for us… we’ve been coming every summer since we were very little.
When we were really small we spent most of our time at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park, where there are many rides and attractions for preschool age kids and younger… but now that we’re taller we both crave the thrill rides at Luna Park! We were so excited that this year we were tall enough to get on some of the cool rides we’ve been eyeing for years.
With over 30 rides and attractions it’s so hard to do it all within just a couple hours… that’s why we’re so excited that Luna Park is now featuring their brand new “Ride All Day Wristband.” You can enjoy all that Coney Island has to offer all day long… and still go back for more rides!
From dance parties along the boardwalk, frolicking at the beach, family-friendly restaurants, and amusement parks… to Brooklyn Cyclones baseball games, festivals, and crazy hot dog eating contests… there’s fun to be had by everyone! And, of course, you can’t forget about yummy treats, like popcorn, cotton candy, and fried dough!
Have you ever tried a deep fried Oreo? It’s so yummy… just make sure you have a cold beverage to wash that down!
And finally, being Wildlife Conservation Society Members, we always find time to visit the New York Aquarium. The sea lion show is by far our favorite attraction there – it’s full of surprises!
If you’re a NYC, NJ, or PA family looking for fun, affordable family-friendly activities this summer you must check out Coney Island! Be sure to “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter to learn about special promotions and events!
